Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was on “Hannity” last night to warn Americans about the Obama Administration’s support of Al Qaeda-linked terrorists who are seeking to overthrow the Syrian government.
Cruz pointed out that 7 out of the 9 “rebel” groups in Syria are connected to Al Qaeda in some way. He told Sean Hannity that America shouldn’t be allying itself with radical Islamists – and that America isn’t the world’s policeman.
According to Cruz, our U.S. security interests should be considered whenever we send our troops into war zones. Throwing missiles into Syria as a symbolic gesture of Obama’s outrage, isn’t the right way to conduct our foreign policy.
As he notes:
But, of course, that may be Obama’s real goal. He’s been effective in installing other Islamist regimes in the Middle East. His latest “success” was the installation of Muslim Brotherhood thug Mohamed Morsi, as the president of Egypt. Morsi was ousted by the military and the people a few months ago for trying to establish an Islamic dictatorship.
Senator Cruz was rightly critical of Obama and of Secretary of State John Kerry for telling the American people that they needed to consult the U.N. before launching a war against Syria. Cruz suggested that Obama might consider actually consulting with Congress before committing our troops to another bloody war. Obama doesn’t seem to consider Congress or the Constitution of any importance when deciding when he’s going to enter our nation into a war.
